Making Money from Soft Drinks

Soft drinks especially the brands Coca Cola or Coke and Pepsi are very popular beverages. Just like juices people drink them whenever they want something sweet instead of the bland taste of water to accompany their solid food. They are especially refreshing when cold or chilled and almost no one drinks them when they are not.

An Unhealthy Reputation

Their popularity has somewhat waned however as bottled water and other healthier beverages has taken a lot of their market share due to the increasing health consciousness of people today. In fact both the bottled water divisions of Coca Cola and Pepsi are now major earners for their respective companies.

Sodas for example also have a tarnished reputation especially with their sugar content. Not so Fun Fact: Coke contains 9 teaspoons sugar per can according to the goodtoknow.co.uk website. Still more bad news is that it has been linked to obesity and diabetes even in children. Moderation is however the key. It is not bad to drink soft drinks like Coke just as long as you drink them moderately.

The US and Mexico Model

Although soft drinks are waning they are still very popular. They are popular in Many countries. The two countries who are the biggest consumers of soft drinks are Mexico and the US. Mexicans on the average drink 634 8-ounce servings per year per person. An 8-ounce serving is your standard coke in can or bottle.

This means that each Mexican drinks almost 2 coke in cans for example which could be alarming to health conscious people. The US is in a similar but slightly lesser situation. Americans drink about 618 8-ounce servings per year per person. This is also means that they drink about 2 coke in cans in 1 day which is alarming considering both countries have obesity problems.

There are Mexicans and other people however who drink more soft drinks than water due to the inadequate supply of clean drinking water or because the supply of water itself is inadequate. As a result they get accustomed to the taste of soft drinks which tastes better than water. As time progresses they completely substitute water with soft drinks.

If however we are concentrating on the business side of soft drinks then an enterprising person could of course see that soft drinks are almost a daily part of the spending habits of the average Mexican or American and they stand to make good money with it. The US and Mexico are geographically close to each other as well which makes good logistical sense to sell to them.

They are Almost Part of the Culture

Soft drink companies also heavily market them and are so effective that they are almost part of the culture of many countries. The food in many celebrations and events are not considered complete unless they come with soft drinks. Every establishment serving food from expensive restaurants to fast foods have soft drinks in their menu.

They have such a presence in everyday life and culture that many things have been done and discovered about them. Drinking Coke for example can help alleviate your stomach ache but not when you are drinking it with an empty stomach which instead of curing stomach ache can actually cause it. Many people buy soft drinks for this purpose.

Of course almost everyone knows about the Coke and Mentos Fountain which happens when the two are combined together. Almost anyone will be entertained by this spectacle especially if it is done creatively. I can see even amateur entertainers adding this spectacle to their act or presentations to entertain their audiences.

There are plenty of information online about the other uses of Coke and similar products besides being just a refreshing beverage. Coke is used as a medicine, meat tenderiser, cleaning agent, rust remover, chaser and so on which means an enterprising individual can make money wholesaling soft drinks.

This is especially true when they are bought during a sale and then resold to people who regularly use soft drinks besides drinking them. For example an enterprising person selling soft drinks to restaurants can market them not only as a beverage to be drank but also as a tenderiser and a marinade for meat. Considering the huge number of restaurants one stands to make good money doing this extra sales pitch.

Conclusion

Many other uses of sodas in primary the Coke brand have been discovered besides them being a beverage. However for the most part they are used as thirst quenchers especially in hot weathers. Many people still drink them and almost cannot consider their meal complete without one. From a business standpoint it is best to stock up on them when their prices are low and then resell them when their prices go up. Many food establishments sell them and it is not very hard to be their supplier.
